Marketing, Technology and Recognition Building (MTR) Intern


The MTR Intern assists with creating and initiating a marketing and recognition building plan that incorporates:

  1. Software and hardware selection, training and usage
  2. Technical support for organizations technological needs
  3. Web site development and plans for future upkeep
  4. Written materials formats and creation
    1. The organization (brochures, annual reports, case statement and supporting materials working with the Executive Director and Volunteer and Resource Development Intern when necessary)
    2. Programs (brochures, annual reports, publicity working with the Programming and Community Outreach Intern when necessary)
    3. Manuals, materials  and overview for training and sustainability in this area for permanent MTR position
  5. Paper and electronic publicity and marketing materials  and newsletters
  6. Developing databases and contacts relating to marketing of the organization and its programs
  7. Assists with marketing of collaborative programs by assisting the collaborating organizations with marketing activities related to the collaborative programs (i.e. links, web pages about the collaborations, promotional materials for the collaborative programs, etc.). One example of a collaborative project is the Pressroom Artists’ Studios where KVAH assists with after-school and during school arts and humanities workshops.
  8. Attends meetings of the Kansas City, KS Downtown Shareholders, meetings with program collaborators, weekly KVAH staff meetings and regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the KVAH Executive Director
  9. Attends trainings and professional development at the annual KC Philanthropy Conference, Kansas Arts Commission trainings (e.g. Websites on a Dime, Marketing for Arts Organizations, and other professional development/training)
  10. Assists with development of marketing materials for the KVAH Academic Internship program
  11. Participates in staff reading assignments/discussions in leadership and skill building
  12. Assists the ED with maintaining selected gallery hours

All Interns will:

  1. Assist with activities and events that require the attention of all KVAH employees, volunteers and interns in order to facilitate a successful event or project.  Two examples of these activities are: 1) preparing for Artwalk exhibits, especially on the day of the exhibits, 2) attending and participating in the Annual Shine and Dine Competition for grant money in which employees, volunteers and board members plan a presentation about KVAH
  2. Assist with any other activities that may be of importance to the well-being and growth of KVAH.
